The Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida opened in late 1971 and has grown substantially since that time. It continues to grow. Walt Disney World has 4 theme parks, 2 water parks, 29 themed resorts, 1 camping resort, 9 non-Disney resorts, a shopping district, several golf courses, and more. The property covers 25,000 acres of land. Only about half of that property is currently being used which leaves the potential for a lot of growth in the future.
The wonderful promotions and commercials released by Disney depict families and children happily skipping along with characters, on rides, and restaurants looking as if they don’t have a care in the world. And that scenario is possible with advanced planning.
If you head to Disney world without a plan, with no resort reservations, advanced dining reservations – no plans whatsoever – you may find that you have a hard time finding a place to stay, you won’t get in the front door of those wonderful themed restaurants you’re dying to go to, and that you’re too stressed out to have any fun at all. You can try, but the odds are against you.
So where do you start in planning your trip to Walt Disney World and ultimately Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge?
A great place to start is with the free vacation planning videos that Disney offers. Up until 2017, you could request their planning videos and they were sent to you on DVD to enjoy. They made really great keepsakes.
Now, the videos are still offered but they no longer mail DVD copies. The good news is that you can access them in just a few minutes via email.
Here you can select videos on Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disney Cruises, Disney’s Vacation Club, Adventures by Disney and more. There’s a couple of short forms to complete and then you’re done. Within minutes, you’ll get an email with your free Disney vacation planning materials and, if you elected to receive promotional email from them, you’ll periodically get special offers from Disney on what you specified an interest in.
In the email are links to the destination videos you requested that you can watch any time. The videos provide a fun overview of your upcoming trip in a way that will have you excited about planning your vacation.
Once you’ve had a chance to review these videos, we’ll cover each important aspect of your trip here on this page so come back as often as you need to. Also, be sure to sign up for our newsletter to get updates on the latest news, updates, and more about Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and the Disney parks.
